Weiler Abrasives - WE-Grind 5.0

The consortium aims to develop a complex technological system known as WE-Grind 5.0, www.noo.gov.si, which will enable constant monitoring of vibrations during the processing of cylinders.

The WE-Grind 5.0 project not only contributes to reducing environmental burdens, but also to increasing the productivity and competitiveness of the economy. More efficient processing of rolls reduces waste and energy consumption, which has a positive impact on production costs and the final price of products, which at the same time increases the competitiveness of companies on the market.

The mobile application is a key element of the WE-Grind 5.0 system, as it allows users to monitor real-time vibration data of the Smart Wheel. This provides users with accurate information about the operation of the machine as well as suggested measures for maintenance and life extension. The mobile application is thus becoming an indispensable tool for professionals in the production and processing of cylinders.

Project INDIGO

Leading partner: Impol 2000 d.d.
Project duration: From April 2022 to April 2024
Total project value: € 4 million
EU co-financing: € 2 million

The project facilitates the comprehensive digitalization of foundry production processes within the Impol Group through the implementation of advanced technologies, as well as the digitalization of specific business processes of the consortium partners.

A key component of the project is the development of the "Green Aluminum" module, which will support the increased use of secondary or recycled materials, advanced regulation of casting processes, and, consequently, the optimization of energy consumption and the reduction of the foundry’s carbon footprint.

The project is part of the measures under the Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP) and is funded through the RRP mechanism.

The participating consortium partners include: Impol 2000, d. d., Impol LLT, d. o. o., Alcad, d. o. o., Kadring, d. o. o., Norik sistemi, d. o. o., Nomnio, d. o. o., Logix, d. o. o., Ates, d. o. o., and MediaInteractive Franc Dolenc, s. p.

Expected project outcomes
Following the implementation of the digitalization project, all business functions related to production preparation and planning, internal logistics, technology preparation, and manufacturing at Impol in Slovenska Bistrica will be fully digitally supported. This will enable, among other benefits:

  • Real-time decision-making
  • Reduction in energy consumption for internal logistics
  • Optimization of internal logistics, including the use of AR/VR technologies
  • Reduction in the use of primary aluminum, which has a high carbon footprint
  • Increased use of secondary (recycled) aluminum, thereby reducing the company’s carbon footprint
  • Data visualization for procurement requirements, enabling real-time, data-driven purchasing decisions
  • Minimization of unnecessary manual approvals and data transfers, leading to enhanced productivity.

Additionally, product manufacturing flow management will be improved, and the production preparation process will be automated.

The system for calculating required raw material inputs will be upgraded, and a digitally supported measurement and quality compliance protocol will be established, enhancing traceability in production.

A state-of-the-art data architecture based on the Data Fabric concept will be implemented, featuring data warehouses and an integrated systems platform spanning the following levels: sensor data acquisition – PLC – SCADA – MES – applications – data analytics – data visualization (dashboards).

Furthermore, the consortium partners will digitalize their support processes, with a particular focus on project management.

GenRISK - Personalized prevention of multifactorial diseases based on polygenic risk assessment

The purpose of the project is to create an innovative GenRiskTM service aimed at identifying key health risks (GenRisk algorithms) and the corresponding individualized early prevention of diseases to which the individual is most exposed (GenRisk SmartAct Intelligent Module), thus ensuring improved health and feelings.

The service will be strictly personalized and will be based on analytical data obtained through predisposition analysis (genetic data + blood markers + conventional risk factors).

The service will be innovative in a global sense, as it will include polygenic risk assessments, which it will combine with data from other levels and will provide an exact (numerical) risk for each disease in the package.
